Google Introduces Workspace, is it better than Teams and Slack? Time will tell

It feels like you can never keep on top of what is going on in the online communications world, as soon as you get used to something, something better comes along.

Today Google is rebranding G Suite office apps as Google Workspace; refreshing the look and feel of their office apps which includes Gmail, Meet, Docs, Sheet and Calendar. This isn’t just a simple visual refresh, they have gone into each app and offered new features, better integrations and have begun offering a new plan called ‘Business Plus’.

So, why has google done this?

Over the course of the last year online communications platforms have become more important than ever. Google has been lagging behind its direct competitors in Slack and Microsoft Teams. The feature set also includes quality of life updates, that google has learned from its customers, including offering people the possibility of users opening documents within Chat – finally no more switching tabs!

The new software also allows home-workers to hold video calls and conferences, collaborate on documents, sheets and slides all within the same window.

So who gets to try this first? Google will begin rolling out this update to paying business customers first, then it will roll out to all customers in the coming months.
